"The Take are the best, most commercial rock band I've ever had the pleasure of working with. If anyone from Salt Lake City ever makes it big, I think it will be The Take." - Sam Foster, Audio Visions Studios "The Take came out at a time when if you didn't play cover songs you didn't play in Salt Lake rock clubs. However, persistence paid off. The Take believed that if they kept banging on doors for long enough someone would give them a chance. They did and that's all it took. Club owners who wouldn't even talk to them before started calling." "One can hardly wonder why. The Take play an infectious collection of well crafted, highly commercial, pop-rock songs with melodies that linger longer than the smell of Limburger cheese. Besides their ability to write good songs, I think one of the things that separates The Take from other Salt Lake Bands is how visual they are. No, they don't have exploding walls of fire or shake their heads until hemorrhage, but they do project intensity and power. Guitarist Charlie Hall weaves his electrifying melodic guitar work in and about the songs. Keyboardist Arthur Hall and bassist Craig Lund lend the band a bit of a serious note along with competent playing while drummer Dan Medley keeps the package tight with a heavy hand and a thunder foot. Fronting The Take is singer/guitarist Michael Coones who displays emotion and energy with honesty. His visual image, as strange as it may be, sets him apart from the common Rock God posers that have been popping up lately. The first time I saw The Take midway through their first set, watching the crowd go crazy, and the energy coming from the stage I thought to myself, 'My God, Salt Lake really has created a monster.'" - Benjamin Hatch, The Wasatch Rock "There's precious little new music coming out of Salt Lake that's worth a nod, but The Take's no nonsense hook laden power pop is a refreshing new presence." - Allan Tatomer, Event Magazine |
